Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach me at cindy@whitepoppypsychology.com.au if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Seeing an online psychologist is simple and convenient, with the following three steps:

1. Contact us via phone, email, the enquiry form or book in a free 15min chat.

2. Speak with Cindy to ensure a good fit and book a time that suits you. Once confirmed, a link will be sent directly to your email.

3. Click on the link to meet with Cindy via video, or if a phone appointment is desired, Cindy will call you at the designated time.

After your session, we process payment and your Medicare rebate (for those with a current Mental Health Care Plan).

The current APS recommended fee for a standard 50 minute session is $311 but I have endevoured to keep appointments more affordable.

Sessions fees are:

Medicare: 50 min session fees are $260 with a medicare rebate of $145.25 (out of pocket expense is $114.75)

Private: 50 min session fee is $260 (please note that you may be eligible for rebates if you hold private health insurance, so please check with your provider)

This is not a bulk billing service. Please contact us to discuss fees if you are experiencing financial hardship, as Cindy does allocate a capped number of low cost sessions per month.

We understand that life can get in the way of scheduled appointments. We ask that you provide us with at least 48 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. Appointments cancelled with less than 48 hours notice will incur the following fees:

• Cancelling 24–48 hours before: 50% of the fee.

• Cancelling within 24 hours: 100% of the fee.

• Non-attendance without cancellation: 100% of the fee.

• Bulk billed clients are not exempt from cancellation fees.

• Three consecutive missed/cancelled sessions may result in discontinuation of services.

No, what your GP is referring to is "bulk billed sessions". Rather than "free" sessions, you will receive a Medicare rebate and there will be an out of pocket expense of $114.75. We understand that many people are experiencing financial hardship so if you are in this situation, please do reach out to discuss.

This is one of the best parts of online therapy. You can be in the comfort of your own home. Feel free to bring your blanket and a cup of coffee or whatever makes you feel safe and comfortable. Please make sure that you have privacy for the duration of your session.

Sessions can be conducted via video (you will receive a link to a private room via email) or phone (you will be called at your designated session time). There is no need to download any software.

Cindy is a qualified Clinical Psychologist and member of the Australian Psychological Society. She holds a Bachelor of Psychology with Honours and a Masters of Clinical Psychology. Cindy has undergone further endorsement supervision and training in the area of clinical psychology.

This is a free 15min video or phone appointment. Cindy believes that finding the right therapist is key to your healing journey, so you should be picky! The intention behind this chat is to ensure that Cindy is the right fit for you and also that you feel comfortable with online sessions. It also provides an opportunity for asking any questions that you might have or settling nerves, which are all a normal and welcome part of starting therapy.

Research suggests that there is no difference in terms of service quality or effectiveness between online and face to face sessions. Cindy has been providing online therapy for 4 years, after previously having worked face to face and clients have only had positive things to say.
