I began my journey to become a clinical psychologist due to a burning desire to help people because I know how painful it can be to struggle and no one notices.
Perhaps it might be cliche, but I've always been a "helper". As a self-professed nerd, I began reading books on the human body and mind from the age of 12 and the moment I picked up my first psychology textbook, I fell in love. That passion is still going strong and perhaps even grown after many years seeing my clients flourish and become who they were always meant to be.
I believe that we can only teach and help from what we know. I specialise in the outlined areas because I understand it on not only a professional level, but a personal one. Connecting with someone who has walked in your shoes can be an incredibly healing experience and you'll feel the vibe instantly.
In my time outside of work I am a mother to two sons who keep me on my toes and I also work with other charities to support young people in finding themselves and navigating relationships. You'll also frequently find me with a good cup of coffee and a book. Yes, I can give you all my book recommendations!
I believe that healing is not just about addressing symptoms but about understanding the root causes of what’s holding you back. I take a mixed approach to therapy, drawing from Attachment research, CBT, ACT, Mindfulness, Compassion and Trauma informed therapies and Strength based or Positive Psychology Frameworks.
Our deepest human need is not to be loved, but to be known. I hope to give each person that I work with a sense of how being understood can feel and the empowerment that comes from this place.
I am a board-certified Clinical Psychologist, registered with AHPRA and a member of the Australian Psychological Society.
My qualifications include:
-Bachelor of Psychology with Honours
-Master of Clinical Psychology
-Clinical Psychology Endorsement
-Eating Disorder training in CBT-E
-Circle of Security training focused on mother-infant bonding and attachment
Sessions will take place via video or phone call, whatever makes you most comfortable. You can do this through the convenience of a phone, Ipad or laptop through a secure online platform (link is provided prior to scheduled appointments). The initial session is focused on getting to know you and what your current concerns are, along with discussing specific things you’d like to achieve through therapy. It’s ok if you don’t know where you’re headed yet, we can figure that out together.
I hope that you’ll find the environment warm and welcoming. It’s normal to feel nervous and to have difficulty putting things into words. We go at your pace, and you share what you’re comfortable with. There is no pressure and no judgement, the therapy space can be whatever you need it to be. Some clients come in with very specific goals and others just want someone to sit and listen. There’s no right or wrong, just you and me figuring it out together.
If you’re in need of support, I invite you to reach out. Together, we can begin your journey toward healing, growth, and the life you truly deserve.
